Jazz Appreciation Month Mural, historic poster prints, bassist Boris Kozlov will perform on Charles Mingus’s original “lion’s head” bass.

Mingus Big Band will perform “Dizzy Moods,” which was originally recorded on Mingus Three, its earliest known recording. Listen to this seminal work adapted 65 years later for Sue Mingus’ fourteen-piece ensemble; take home the record to experience how Mingus first developed this composition in a 1957 trio setting. The night’s festivities will be documented and video released with JazzTimes in May 2022 titled “Celebrate Mingus”.
